Dr. Florian KuchenbauerDr. Florian Kuchenbauer received his M.D. education at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich, Germany in 2001 and completed an M.D. thesis at the Max-Planck-Institute for Psychiatry in 2002. He then started residency training at the Department of Hematology/Oncology, Klinikum Grosshadern, Munich, Germany (2001-2004) before obtaining a PhD degree at the Terry Fox Laboratory, BC Cancer and Department of Experimental Medicine, University of British Columbia under the supervision of Dr. Keith Humphries (2005-2009). He then finished his training in Hematology with a focus on stem cell transplantation. In addition, he founded together with Dr. Arefeh Rouhi the Kuba research group focusing on translational leukemia research.

Currently, Dr. Kuchenbauer and his group strive to improve the treatment of patients with hematological diseases. Their work is driven by analysing clinical factors and outcomes to improve local patient treatments as well as taking advantage of preclinical animal models to better understand the physiology of normal and malignant hematopoiesis.
